Airsprung
In
1871 Hedley Chapman founded a mattress factory in Trowbridge, Wiltshire
or to be more precise, he began to manufacture straw palliases at the
very reasonable price of 3s6d a pair. He was a firm believer in quality
and value for money and as a result the company went from strength to
strength. In the early 1900's as mass produced mattresses became more
sophisticated, so did the processes by which they were made and a
programme of modernisation was introduced which ensured that the
company was always at the forefront of technology.

When the world woke up to the interior sprung mattress in the 1930's. Chapman's was right there with new plant and machinery that was to make the company's name. Twenty years later that name changed to Airsprung to reflect the new designs. In over 130 years Airsprung Beds has become the cornerstone of a furniture group that employs over 600 people nationwide. But some things haven't changed. We still strive to improve our designs and invest in new technology and research and development in order to reach our goal to provide innovative, beautiful beds at a comfortable price. Airsprung is now part of Airsprung Group PLC. and offers a range of beds offering exceptional value.
The Windsor Bed Company
The Windsor Bed Company produces hand made beds and furniture. The skilled staff make beds to order from some of the finest traditional materials combined with the best of modern bed making technology to make a range of quality beds for the most discerning customers. The quality and style of Windsor bed range combines to make some of the highest quality beds available in the UK.
All Windsor Bed Company products contain
the original hand nested and hand sewn pocketed springs which are the key to
the life of the bed. Hand nested pocketed spring units are the traditional
tried and tested spring system used by few manufacturers today. This is a very
labour intensive spring system to make but it provides a level surface leaving
no gaps between springs and avoids roll together. Each spring is allowed to
move independently and therefore moulds to the shape of the body and adjusts to
differing weights.
Hand centre tying secures the springs through the centre of the rows of
springs. Our superior mattresses are 'top tied' which means that the springs
are sewn to each other both on top and then underneath the spring system.
We offer a choice of softer, medium and
firmer tensions on most mattresses as well as zipped and one piece combination
mattresses and cut away corners, so that each bespoke bed is custom made to
your requirements.
A clear and uncomplicated spring count
story is featured, this being 1050, 1250, 1350, 1450, 1550, 2000, 2550 and 3000
pocketed springs.
